toughen the application process to purchase firearms and high capacity ammunition magazines, but NOT OUTLAW THEM.

I have been hearing plenty about the thousands of signatures received by a petition to squash gun rights in this country.

I haven't heard anything, nor could I find a response to, a petition for lawmakers to perhaps toughen the requirements for law abiding citizens, but continue the lawful sale and ownership of firearms described by some as "assault weapons" and the high capacity magazines that often come with them at the time of purchase.

There THOUSANDS of these firearms and magazines owned by the public, now. The idea that taking those firearms out of the hands of law-abiding citizens is not what we should be working on.

Instead, make the laws about what they SHOULD pertain to - mental health requirements for persons (and persons living with them).
