Created by C.W. on May 09, 2014

VIA New York Daily News - 1/11/2002 A Manhattan woman whose fugitive ex-husband owes her millions in court-ordered divorce payments is back in court over another bill he hasn't paid. Jane Maharam, 71, made headlines more than 15 years ago when she sued her husband, Robert Maharam, for giving her herpes. A Manhattan Supreme Court jury found that Robert Maharam, 71, a millionaire businessman, knowingly passed the virus to his wife after having contracted it during secret liaisons with dozens of prostitutes. Jane Maharam, who divorced her husband in 1983, was awarded more than $600,000 in the herpes case. In 1996, the courts ordered her husband to pay her $1. 2/9/2011 WASHINGTON, D.C. – Steve Cohen reintroduced Jane’s Law: https://cohen.house.gov/press-release/cohen-reintroduces-janes-law
