The United States has had 45 school shootings so far in 2015. There have been 146 school shootings since the Sandy Hook Elementary incident in 2012. It takes the police and/or other law enforcement, on average, 15 to 20 minutes to respond to these situations. Too much can happen in this time and further measures need to be taken to protect students and faculty. There is no way to keep guns out of the hands of citizens how wish to use them to do harm. However, you can put them in the hands of select teachers who have been thoroughly trained and certified to handle a firearm. Protocols should be put in place to determine storage and procedures regarding the weapon as well. Our schools need to be protected from the inside and out.
