The U.S. should take a serious, aggressive, leading stance on the war against climate change. According to a 2009 study by the Environmental Law Institute, $72 billion from the 2002-2008 period went to fossil fuel subsidies while less than half of that, $29 billion went to renewable subsidy sources. This should be reversed to help create clean energy sources (such as thin film solar), infrastructure (such as electric car fueling station networks), and new jobs.
