The Internet and access to the information contained in it is a human right, not a paid-for privilege. There are times when an invention is so prolific and catalyzing that the change that it brings belongs to humanity itself. Information is power, and the hegemonic structure of power needs to be free and open in order to maintain neutrality. Without neutrality, the power to change the information available is then granted to a certain few, which is too great a power for any entity. We must limit the ability of any person or persons to subjugate information. We can achieve this by neutralizing two things: information and access to it. Transferring ownership of access to the internet and the information contained therein to the public is the only way to maintain neutrality forever.
