The metric system is widely used throughout the world. It ensures effective cooperation between different countries and creates actually globalised world. The United States of America remains one of very few counties in the contemporary world (and definitely the only developed country) that uses domestic system of measurements. It creates obstacles for international trading (both for US companies exporting goods and services; and for international companies trading in the US) as requires each product adaptation in terms of measures it uses. Transition to the new system would requires significant investments though in middle- and long-term prospective financial advantages overcome these expenditures.
