While the fiscal cliff was worked around in early January, this only cut the program by $1.2 trillion by 2023. The gov't spend a little under $1 trillion, and this would solve all of the debt problems right? Nope. The new program will raise the debt ceiling by almost $1 trillion, making the debt be paid off by around $200 billion each year starting in 2023. This will lead the debt to be paid off by 2112. All good right? No problems? Sorry, but the gov't spending will increase by 180 billion each year, if projections are correct. If this is so, our spending and income will never come close to each other.
This leaves us with one choice; trap congress inside with mandatory attendance and limited supplies until they come up with plans the average economist could actually approve of.
