Atheism should be treated as a religion for the purposes of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. This fits with the definition of "religion" as "a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects" (dictionary.com, definition #2). Currently it is illegal for public school teachers to attempt to influence students towards Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, etc. but somehow it is still acceptable to influence students away from said religions toward atheism. This is unfair, and in my opinion falls afoul of the Establishment Clause.
