Treat educational as a national resource by creating a national curriculum and equalize funds based on cost of living.

Created by T.W. on February 20, 2013

Education is a national resource. The current model based on property taxes and guided by local school boards no longer adequately address the needs from both a student/ educator perspective or an advanced information based economy. I propose creating a Commision charged with analyzing and publishing the cost and savings to both the states and the nation by 1; restructuring current funding models away from local property tax and nationalizing funding based on local cost of living indices and 2; create a clear baseline curriculum aligned with universities both local and national. Some of this is already in progress with common core curriculums being adopted by some states. We are loosing too many students to apathy and lethargy in an educational system that has gone the wrong way.
