To Triple Budget Allocation for Mental Illness Facilities and Services

In the 1960's the average stay in a Mental Health facility was 364 days. Today it is 4-48...hours. Treatment has improved only slightly; all while research and services have been privatized for profit or cut entirely. Mental Illness links the most heinous crimes in our nation; from Rape to Child Molestation; Domestic Violence to Mass Shootings. In 2006 roughly HALF of inmates in prison suffered a Mental Illness; many of whom were eventually released...untreated. Worse off, even. The Mentally Ill are a key part of our homeless population. They need more than soup. Not to mention that when you factor in the families of the Mentally Ill, those unaffected by this Epidemic are the minority in our nation. It costs our nation more than money, it bleeds our souls and our own sanity. Please sign.
