There are currently only 5 states - including D.C. - in the United States that prohibit licensed professionals from engaging in Sexual Orientation Change Efforts (SOCEs), also known as: Conversion Therapy. The American Psychological Association acknowledges that sexual orientation cannot be changed and that SOCEs pose serious threats to an individuals psychological, emotional, and physical well-being. Victims of SOCEs are 8 times more likely to commit suicide. Engaging in this practice is dangerous and unethical! We need your help in making the country a safe place for LGBTQ+ individuals to exist, love, and grow to be valid members of society. And to consider naming the bill after True Colors, Inc., a nonprofit organization from Hartford, CT that advocates for sexual minority youth.
