Prior to taking office, Trump promised to deport the 11 million illegal immigrants living in the United States and to build a wall along the Mexico–United States border. Despite campaign promises to build a full wall, Trump later stated that he favors putting up some fences. Trump promised to "drain the swamp in Washington D.C.", and he proposed a series of ethics reforms. His proposals was a five-year ban on serving as a lobbyist after working in the executive branch.
