Encourage Congress to pass a new law requiring truth in news reporting. The law should establish a large bi-partisan oversight committee to investigate reports of untruthful news reports by all forms of news outlets.
The committee must impose fines to any violators. For large news outlets that own multiple forms of news outlets such as television, newspapers and radio the fine shall be $100,000 per violation. For individual news outlets the fine shall be $1,000 per violation. For internet based news outlets with 10 or more employees or contractors, the fine shall be $1,000 per violation. For internet based news outlets with less than 10 employees or contractors the fine shall be $500.00 per violation.
The act of presenting information to the public at large qualifies as a news outlet.
