We the people petition the United States Government to re-instate the Fairness Doctrine of 1949 and widen its scope to include all communication and entertainment entities that identify themselves as news or news sources. This includes all new media, talk radio, cable news and entertainment news, news talk, political commentary, news publication or website that reports news. If ‘opinion’ is broadcast on these outlets we petition all the above mentioned outlets be required to provide reliable and accurate sources as basis for opinion pieces and not employ, or report, hearsay or unconfirmed information. This petition not only applies to telecommunications, but to our national security as in recent years media misinformation and hearsay have led to murder and sweeping civil right violations.
