On August 9th, 2014, Officer Darren Wilson shot an eighteen-year-old young man named Michael Brown, Jr. in Ferguson, MO. Following Brown's death, Ferguson was immersed in protests, demonstrations, and militarized police units. Since Brown's death, 2 other African-American young men have been killed, innocent of any crime, as Brown was, by Ferguson police officers. Recently, a Grand Jury made the decision to not indict Darren Wilson, despite the authenticity of the fact that he killed Brown, and numerous eyewitness reports confirming Brown's innocence and Wilson's use of excessive force. This kind of police corruption and internalized racism must be stopped in this country, and giving Wilson a trial would help fix the damage we've done.
