Those who sign this petition are hoping that the Obama Administration will try to persuade the Congress (and also NASA) to secure funding and resources, and begin construction of a robotic helicopter , which will be sent to the planet Mars in the near future.
By sending a robotic helicopter to Mars, the United States Government and NASA will be able to further resolve some of the planet's mysteries and make new discoveries, which will indirectly spur public interest in astronomy.
