Turn off Christmas lights in Washington. In sympathy to the nation and especially the families in Connecticut.

The least we can do to show our respect is to show sacrifice during this tragedy. This Christmas season will never be the same to them and to many who fell victim to senseless shootings. Turning off Christmas lights is a very humble but powerful gesture that yes - we care about them even if our Christmas trees lack the warm glow of the lights that always mean so much to us. Perhaps these unlit trees will remind us and the rest of humanity that Christmas is not about fancy lights, decorations and gifts. Its really about our loved ones.
