When faced with school shootings and similar tragedies, national dialog regarding gun control erupts in a frenzy. However, guns are simply the tools used in such tragedies; they are the symptoms, not the cause.
In order to effectively prevent school shootings and similar tragedies, we must address the reasons why perpetrators engage in such activities.
We urge the Administration to encourage and support non-biased research into the factors that lead to violence, to pave the way in creating equality for all citizens, and to create initiatives which encourage personal responsibility, support for, and empowerment of individuals within society.
Move the nation away from heated debates on gun control that will be forgotten in a month and toward real solutions.
