Every year floods devastate the Missouri, and Mississippi river basins and the cities that lie on their banks. Rather than create an oil pipeline to transport a dirty form of oil that requires more energy than normal to refine, why not use those same resources to create a water pipeline to refill the reservoirs and aquifers along the same route. The Edwards and Ogallala aquifers which make up the High Plains Aquifer systems supply water to the breadbasket of America, and they are being depleted faster than they can be naturally replenished. If we save the aquifer, we save the livelihoods of millions of people in the central United States, specifically in South Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. And we put a lot of Americans back to work.
