The country needs jobs. During the Depression, the government built the interstate system to transport people and goods around the country. The Breadbasket of America was turned into a dust bowl during the 30's, and waters taken from the Ogallala acquifer helped restore the land to an arable state. Currently 50% of the Ogallala acquifer has been consumed and we have perhaps 20 years before that water runs out. Use the resources for the Keystone XL pipeline to bring yearly floodwaters from the Missouri, and Mississippi rivers down to the Ogallala and help insure our food security. We don't need a dirty source of oil that requires more effort to clean than our existing oil sources. We need jobs, food security and water.
