Turn Mars into Starkiller Base

Since the White House has already expressed disinterest in constructing the Death Star, we suggest that they take a more ambitious approach and transform Mars into Starkiller Base. You never know when evil communist space creatures will launch an attack on our humble planet and the Death Star although powerful, would not be able to defend us. It is only able to defend in our own star system and the attack will likely come from an outside threat. Starkiller Base is the perfect solution as it can destroy an entire star system from anywhere in the galaxy. As a bonus it also runs on eco-friendly solar energy and would also provide employment for more than the entire country.
