Turn the post office the customer service office of government

Created by A.V. on January 13, 2013

Consolidate the customer service functions of the executive branch that overlap between departments (call centers, offices that interact directly with the public, etc) and contract with the post office to fulfill them. This could revitalize it while saving the tax payer a good amount of money. It already has a massive distribution network and offices near where most Americans live. People can already apply for passports at the post office, and the office could easily handle functions like replacing lost social security cards, applying for farm subsidies, etc.
