,Epilepsy affects approximately 3 million people in the United States with approximately 200,000 new cases diagnosed each year. It is as common as breast cancer and takes as many lives. The purpose of this petition is to bring awareness to this illness. My 15 year old daughter was diagnosed with Epilepsy at the age of 4. At the age of 40, I was recently diagnosed after a nearly fatal accident due to an unpredictable seizure while driving. One in 10 people will have a seizure in their lifetime. Please help me spread Epilepsy Awareness throughout our country in eff. I have already started with my local government by having a proclamation approved to observe Epilepsy Awareness month in the city of Charlotte, NC through our mayor. Epilepsy can strike any one, at any age, at any time. Thank you
