Un-"de-regulate" the markets to stop the endless spiral of rising prices and stagnant wages

Created by N.B. on September 17, 2013

The government used to have more control over the prices of a lot of things (energy, airfare, etc.). Since the 1970's, the government has been massively de-regulating industries, essentially handing control of the prices over to the largest corporations in their respective industries.

At the same time, income inequality (the gap between the rich and the poor) has been rapidly rising, and the middle class has been shrinking, just like what happened just before the collapse of the Roman Empire.

The government should again have more control over prices of things that middle class families rely on in order to preserve the economic order that made this country great (a thriving middle class), and end the constant cycle of the rich getting richer, and everyone else getting poorer.
