"Un-ratify" the UN Outer Space Treaty

The Outer Space Treaty states that space is the common heritage of all mankind, meaning that no part of outer space or any celestial body can belong to any individual or private organization, with the exception of orbits. This provides no incentive for technological advancement regarding interstellar travel for private companies. If the US were to do away with this treaty, companies like Virgin Galactic would be more willing to fund missions to the moon or even Mars with the possibility of making money off of new resources or, at the very least, space tourism. If this were to happen, other countries in the UN might follow suit, leading to the revocation of the treaty totally. It would also be another opportunity to create jobs, and maybe revive a struggling economy.
