Undo The Sequester “Mandate” Through Executive Order

This petition asks that President Obama issue an executive order to undo the budget sequestration “mandate” under the Budget Control Act of 2011. Politicians from both parties agree that sequestration is an extremely poor policy with potentially disastrous results. In addition, the sequestration places the entire cost of the cuts on the backs of federal workers through furloughs. Federal workers represent only a small portion of the United States population, and should not have to bear the burden for everyone. An executive order in this situation is justified since this is in the interest of our national security and the preservation of our economy.
