All families with children where one of both parents is unemployed and without a permanent residence may apply for a mortgage for a household whereas the family only would pay the interest on the mortgage. Paying only the interest on a residential mortgage can only last for a period of 24 months, after which the principal payment will be amortized. During the duration of the accommodation, parents must show proof of employment, search of employment, or proof of attending specialized job training classes that would aid in employment. Families that fail to show proof of these activities will immediately have to begin paying off their principal mortgage payment. Banks that fail to comply with these procedures will be subjected to further fines and penalties.
