Unemployment is considered as "unearned income",
but is reported to the IRS as income even though there may be US Federal Taxes dollars taken out. Unemployment is considered "Earned income" to any Public Assistance agency or housing. An individual who once made more than $3-5k a month and paid federal income taxes, suddenly becomes unemployed than force to collect unemployment, and lviing off their savings and cashing out their retirement must file Income tax and pay the taxes on the Unemployment income, but yet is not allowed or eligible to receive the Earned Income Tax Credit.(EITC)
Please Change the law. If you received Unemployment benefits, and the UB income has met the EITC eligibility, then they should be allowed to receive the same Tax credits. Fix the EITC to stop the ABUSE!
