The Uniformed Services Former Spouses Protection Act (USFSPA), 10 U.S.C. 1408 needs to be REFORMED now!

Created by R.H. on May 24, 2016

The Uniformed Services Former Spouses Protection Act (USFSPA), 10 U.S.C. 1408 is allowing former spouses to collect portion of the military veterans retirement for LIFE. There are many deserving spouses who made ultimate sacrifices while supporting the veterans during their career and raising the children and these spouses who have been married to the veteran for 20 years or more deserve the lifetime benefits under the USFSPA.

However, there are spouses who have been married LESS than 10 years to the military veteran and have remarried. Due to this flawed system these spouses can continued to collect portion of the veterans military retirement benefits for LIFE. The distribution of military retirement benefits should CEASE upon remarriage of these former spouses. REFORM USFSPA in 2016!
