Since the Israeli offensive on Gaza, Palestinian deaths have climbed well above 400 and injuries have jumped into the thousands, many of them children. Besides pursuing an agreeable cease-fire, we the United States and our allies have a responsibility to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. Regardless of our beliefs and self-interests, it should be easily agreed upon by the people of the United States and our government that we must provide humanitarian aid to Gaza. By allowing permitted supplies to be air lifted and dropped over Gaza, we can fulfill the basic needs of people there, while avoiding the surrounding blockade. Peace can never be reached so long as the international community denies Palestinians their right to exist and live with dignity in their homeland and abroad.
