The United States Postal Service should provide a means to "opt-out" of its Bulk Mail (Junk Mail) delivery service.

Created by M.F. on October 20, 2011

The United States Postal Service (USPS) provides businesses the ability to send junk mail - in bulk - to our homes. There is no way to opt-out of Bulk Mail (think coupon flyers, phone and cable service promotions, local business promotions and credit card offers). Bulk Mail is often generically addressed to the "household" or "current resident" and sent to an entire zip code, city or state with a less than 1% response rate.

This is a huge waste of natural resources and a detriment to the environment (think printing, transportation and disposal).

The USPS should provide a means to opt-out of receiving Bulk Mail. This would be akin to the government's "National Do Not Call Registry" (www.donotcall.gov).
