Petitioners request a universal mass Presidential Pardon for all past marijuana convictions. Marijuana effects don’t materially differ from common legal drugs like alcohol & tobacco (a&t), and are arguably less harmful, with demonstrable benefits medically and as a non-addictive alternative w/o a&t's mortality rates. Marijuana’s illegality is thus unjustifiable in modern America - an unethical, inequitable threat to, and deprivation of, the liberty and civil rights of Americans, the prosecution of which (alongside legal a&t) violates US cruel and unusual punishment prohibitions, annually wastes billions of taxpayer dollars, impairs the efficacy of our resource-limited enforcement and judicial agencies, and permanently harms the lives of those convicted for harms not done. Right this wrong.
