Putting a baby up for adoption is an extremely difficult decision. Mothers make this decision because they love their baby's but realize, for a wide range of reasons, their babies will have better lives if they are raised by other families. The overwhelming majority of adoptees and birth parents want a reunion. By the time an adopted person is of legal age over 90% of birth parents want reunion.
There are medical reasons to unseal the records. People who are adopted do not have any family medical history. They don't know their risk factors and, when they get older, they don't know the risk factors of their children.
Reunions do happen today, but information is hard to find and the process is different from county to county, and state to state. Please help improve the system.
