Current child support laws do not hold visitation and child support in the same category, ie.. no support does not mean no visitation. There needs to be some accountability by the non custodial parents when it comes to supporting their children when not in their care. Also creating a timeline of 90 days allowing custodial parents to file to have parental rights removed from the non custodial parent under the premise of abandonment criteria to include, not contacting the child, regardless of location. In summary, 90 days without communication or child support payments would allow parents to petition courts to remove the parental rights of the non custodial parent. Also reducing the amount of unpaid support to $2000.00 becomes a felony.
