Whether you own a small or a big weapon may not really make a difference if you are mentally unstable to own a gun or unaware of damages resulting from a misuse of a gun.
Switzerland may have higher gun ownership rate but mandatory military training kind of helps sort out people qualified enough to own that weapon and at age of 18 when they go through those training they more likely turn into a good guy than an unemployed young man with a gun in USA turning into a bad guy.
Mandatory gun awareness training, family background check and frequent re-certification (every 3 years) requirement may help bring gun violence down.
Pros for NRA - more gun awareness training business on the street
Pros for citizens - safer gun owners in the community, few more jobs and secured 2nd amendment.
