Upgrading LTG Harold Gregory Moore, Jr ("Hal") Distinguished Service Cross to the Medal of Honor.

Created by W.S. on February 13, 2016

November 14, 1965, Moore led his battalion in the week-long Battle of Ia Drang. Encircled by enemy soldiers with no clear landing zone that would allow them to leave, Moore managed to persevere despite overwhelming odds that led to a sister battalion only two-and-a-half miles away being massacred the next day. Moore's dictum that "there is always one more thing you can do to increase your odds of success"] and the courage of his entire command are credited with this outcome. Moore was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions at Ia Drang. Had it not been for his actions and coolness in extreme varying combat situations many more men would have been lost.
