With several mass-murder incidents occurring in the last few years there has been a movement to either pass more stringent gun control laws or even omit the 2nd amendment altogether.
Taking guns away from the law abiding citizens of this nation would only further allow these events to take place. Criminals are criminals and will continue to be, and in such will be able to get firearms, leaving citizens defenseless until law enforcement can intervene.
Based on survey data from a 2000 study published in the Journal of Quantitative Criminology U.S. civilians use guns to defend themselves and others from crime at least 989,883 times per year.
There are other solutions out there and should be researched. Allow our citizens to defend themselves from criminals, or even a possible invasion.
