Uphold Article the First in the Constitution stating that there be one Representative per 50,000 people, or change it.

Created by K.L. on December 11, 2012

Article the First in the United States Constitution states that there be one Representative per 50,000 people in the United States of America once the country reaches a population exceeding 8,000,000.

At this time it means over 6,000 Representative positions not being filled.

The Article was ratified in 1791 with 11 out of 14 states and later ratified once more in 1792 when Kentucky became the 12th state to ratify it. All of legislative decisions to ratify the Article have been recorded and are being presented in the case LaVergne vs. Byrson 12-1171.

The sanctions dictated in Article the First are law as defined by the United States of America and have not been upheld by Congress or any of those sworn to uphold our Constitution.
