Urge the 113th Congress to ratify the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

The Senate refused to ratify the Convention for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on December 4, 2012. The treaty did not receive the 2/3 margin necessary to pass, because of Republican opposition to the treaty. It is both vital and imperative that the 113th Congress not make the same mistake that the 112th Congress did. The treaty must be ratified. By signing onto this treaty, we are not giving up any sovereignty, nor are we giving the United Nations any power over us. Instead, we are merely affirming our commitment to defend the basic human rights of people with disabilities, which are being attacked all over the world. I urge President Obama to impress upon the Congress the importance of ratifying this treaty, and I urge the American people to tell their representatives the same.
