The National Popular Vote Insterstate Compact is an interstate agreement which has thus far been passed by eight states and DC, with a total of 132 electoral votes between them. Once enough states have agreed to the Compact that the net electoral worth of those states is more than 270, those states will award all of their electoral votes to whichever candidate wins the majority of the nationwide popular vote, thereby ensuring that the popular vote winner is elected president, preemptively blocking any attempt by special interests to stop the will of the people through backroom politics or gerrymandering. We call on the President to urge all fifty states to pass this legislation and modernize our electoral system and ensure that the person elected is the person who represents the majority.
