The Santa Susana Field Laboratory in Simi Valley, California, experienced a partial nuclear meltdown in 1957. Despite receiving little attention in the press and absolutely no recognition in history and environmental science textbooks, this accident is thought to be much greater than the Three Mile Island disaster in 1979, releasing more than 458 times the amount of radiation released by the latter disaster, and has been named “the worst in U.S. history.” Potential buyers looking to purchase real estate around the Santa Susana Field Laboratory in the 26th district of California deserve to be informed under the Natural Hazards Disclosure Act of the contamination and dangers associated with this site. Petition to urge California to take this important step in protecting its citizens.
