Liu Xiaobo, a scholar and democracy activisit, is a key proponent and drafter of Charter 08, a political manifesto promoting peaceful democratic reform in China. He is currently serving an 11 year prison sentence for "inciting subversion of state power," and his wife is under constant surveillance. Over 600 co-signatories of Charter 08 have signed an online "statement of shared responsibility" with Liu for his "crime". Liu is currently the only imprisoned Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. Liu's imprisonment is a clear violation of human rights and due process of the law. Join us to urge the Obama administration to stand up for fundamental human rights.
