Urge Colleges to Use Freely Available Books to Decrease Financial Burden on Students

Created by J.H. on January 24, 2013

College is expensive, and one of the biggest costs sustained by students is due to the high costs of college textbooks.

In reality, most of the information provided in today's textbooks is available for free using the Internet. Instead of embracing this low cost alternative to reduce the financial burden on students, most colleges require students to purchase over priced books, which lose all their value after being purchased.

We would like the government to urge schools to use freely available learning materials, such as technology, math, and science books available for free online.

This makes the cost of getting a good education lower, and stops padding the pockets of companies who charge astronomical prices for freely available information.
