urge Congress to pass a Constitutional amendment requiring each state (and DC) to elect one male and one female Senator.

Created by K.F. on February 11, 2013

Women are under-represented in the US Government. And research clearly suggests that teams with gender balance outperform those dominated by one gender.

The US Senate should exercise leadership in bringing gender balance to government. Not just for women. Such a measure will make Congress more effective, overall. And since each state in the Union, and the District of Columbia, are required to send two Senators to Congress, the Senate is uniquely designed to make this a feasible step.

The best research on women in leadership and on diversity in teams and decision-making bodies suggests this would be a significant improvement.
