When you turn 18, you have hit the age of majority. they say you are an adult. A full member of society, with all the rights and responsibilities therefore.
You can fight and die for your country and your rights but are not yet old enough to fully exercise them.
You can die with your fellow soldiers in the army but can't have a beer with them.
You can buy a semi automatic rifle but not a handgun.
You can take upon yourself the civic duty to decide the future of our great nation by voting, but you can't rent a car.
You are responsible enough to have a job and work long hours but are not old enough to go on a cruise ship vacation or gamble.
Are we truly an adults? or just privileged children? If they expect us to uphold our responsibilities we deserve all the rights of an adult.
