The Fair Standard Labor Act of 1938 doesn't protect migrant children workers like it does in all other non-agricultural industries. The Children's Act for Responsible Employment overturns the outdated Act, which is anything but fair. Half a million migrant children farm workers, some as young as six years old, labor away 12 hours a day, 7 days a week to harvest the produce and tobacco we use every singe day. These children struggle in school, because they miss school for harvest in order to support their families. They also work in dangerous conditions unfit for children. For example, take Santos. When he was six, he slashed his foot with a hoe, but he couldn't afford a trip to the doctor, he wrapped his own foot and returned to the fields for the rest of his shift. This is all too common.
