Urge Congress to reform the way in which it draws voting districts.

Created by Z.F. on June 27, 2014

112 Congress was the least productive Congress in US history, passing only 284 bills into law, and 113 is not looking any better. 112 is about 31% as productive as the famous "Do Nothing" Congress. Also, the American population is wildly misrepresented at the Capitol. 46% of voters identify with an independent party, yet only 0.9% of seats are NOT held by R or D. Its no wonder approval rate is at 13%, yet somehow reelection rate is 90%

I believe this is largely due to gerrymandering creating non-competitive districts that result in the same people being elected every. single. time. There are many ways to avoid this, such as an algorithm that divides US into areas with equal population, or even intentionally gm-ing to create results that reflect the population.
