While our Founding Fathers envisioned the House of Representatives to be a legislative body that expanded with the population, our Congress limited this ability with the passage of the Apportionment Act of 1911 which arbitrarily set the maximum size of the House to 435 members.
Since 1911, the population has more than tripled yet the number of Representatives remains at 435. The 1911 Act has created super sized Congressional districts that are now approximately 750k per Representative.
Please urge the increase of the size of the House along with an apportionment act that places an upper limit on the size of a Congressional district, so that the House size changes with population and all voters receive a competitive district and a Representative that serves their local needs.
