We petition the current administration to hold media outlets that claim to be news organizations to a higher standard of truth in journalism. We encourage the administration to consult with the FCC to develop strict rules and regulations for media outlets to be considered, by a legal definition, "News". We suggest that when a purported news outlet reports false or misleading information that they be forced to publicly recant, during prime-time viewing hours, or else be forced to suffer a sizable monetary fine, based on the income of the organization. We the people, wish to restore honesty and integrity to the journalistic process. Any news organization not willing to conform to these standards is clearly not deserving of the title.
