Early in the morning of March 27, 2013, developers of a luxury hi-rise apartment building demolished a section of the Berlin Wall, despite massive protests against its destruction. This particular section of the Berlin wall, which itself stands as a reminder that unity is superior to division, is the longest existing section of the wall, and is covered in meaningful murals from dozens of world-renown artists.
This petition asks the Obama's administration to request the government of the Federal Republic of Germany to take greater steps to preserve this historic monument. The wall represents a shared history of lessons learned together, and its continued existence allows us to honor and remember the sacrifices of those who once sought to tear it town for far more important reasons
